New Brightener for Zn-Ni Alloy Plating from Sulfate Bath
Zinc-nickel alloy electrodeposition was carried out in the presence of the condensation product formed between chitosan and vanillin in an acid sulfate bath. A Hull cell was used for optimizing the operating parameters and bath constituents. During deposition, the potential was shifted towards the cathodic direction in the presence of addition agents. Current efficiency and throwing power under different experimental conditions were measured. SEM images of the bright deposit indicated its fine-grained nature and appreciable reduction in grain size. Corrosion studies revealed the protective properties of the alloy coating.
