Direct Numerical Simulation of Binary Collisions of Shear-Thinning Droplets
In order to investigate spray processes with scale-reduced numerical simulations like Euler-Euler or Euler-Lagrange models, closure terms that describe the outcome of binary droplet collisions are required. For complex fluids such closure terms are missing. Using Direct Numerical Simulation of non-Newtonian droplet collisions a deeper understanding of such two-phase flow processes is achieved, enabling the derivation of improved closure terms.
