Production and study of thio-bis-hydroxyalkylbenzyl sulfonates as lubricating oil additives
Thio-bis-hydroxyalkylbenzyl sulfonates of calcium of varying alkalinity have been synthesized from products of sulfomethylation of sulfurated alkyl phenols obtained by using 170-240 A degrees C fraction of alpha-olefins produced in the high-temperature ethylene oligomerization process. The sulfonate-additive modifications obtained dissolve fully in basic oils, and markedly improve their deterging-dispersing, anti-oxidation, and anti-corrosion properties. The synthesized compounds can be used as multifunctional additives in additive packages for engine oils.
