A non-stationary hydrogen cooker with portable hydride storage and catalytic hydrogen burner
It is well known that there are countries in the world with large rural areas which have no grid and no effective energy carrier. People living in these areas are forced to use natural resources to support their living. The result is the disappearance of vegetation in some regions and environmental degradation, because people have to use plants as firewood for cooking or heating. The use of a hydrogen cooker with portable hydrogen storage will improve the living conditions of these people. In connection with this, the UNIDO1 asked for the development of a cooker with a portable hydride storage. A hydride storage stands out from other kinds of hydrogen storages because of its high density of stored hydrogen. The project of the hydrogen cooker was financed by the Ministry for building, country development and environment of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and GfE Metalle und Materialien GmbH Nurnberg, the only German company that builds hydride storages.
