Absorption of hydrogen by Nb1-xCrx solid solution alloy
The pressure-composition isotherms for Nb1-x Cr-x-H systems (where x = 0.03, 0.05 and 0.1) were determined at three different temperatures, 320, 350 and 375 K, using standard Sievert's technique. A large hysteresis was observed for x = 0.1 as the value of x decreases this hysteresis becomes smaller. The hysteresis effect is explained in terms of an elastic strain energy effect.
