VIBROINERTIAL COMMINUTION - PRINCIPLES AND PERFORMANCE
A vibroinertial apparatus, called KID (Konousnaia Inertsionnaia Drobilka), has been developed for the crushing and grinding of materials. In this apparatus, the main compressive and shearing forces are derived from the combination of centrifugal forces obtained from an unbalanced mass and intensive vibrations applied to the material to be treated. Vibroinertial comminution takes advantage of heterogeneities and defects present in the inner structure of the solid. Results of the first application tests show that the vibroinertial machines, used in either dry or wet processes and in either open or closed circuit, achieve selective comminution, minimise the production of fine particles, increase the grinding capacity and reduce power consumption and maintenance costs. The obtained reduction ratios range from 4 to 30.
