INVESTIGATIONS ON VALLERIITE FROM WESTERN CHINA - CRYSTAL-CHEMISTRY AND SEPARATION PROPERTIES
In a previous paper, the chemical composition and crystal structure of valleriite from Jinchuan, Western China (J-valleriite) was discussed. The present work deals with the oxidation states of the major elements determined with the aid of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and an ionic-crystal model is developed. Using this model, this paper will discuss various aspects of crystal chemistry and other physical properties (hardness, specific gravity, magnetic properties, differential thermal and thermal gravitational properties) of valleriite. Floatability and the influences of factors such as grain size, pH value and agitation time will also be considered. Theory agrees well with the experimental results obtained.
