There are analysed measurement errors in estimating characteristic particle sizes (d) over bar(i) in multistage cascade impactors. Two types of errors were investigated: those caused by the design and operation of a given impactor, and those due to measurement methods used in impactors. In both cases the methods of elimination or minimisation of the errors are described.
