In this study the mechanism of filter cake stripping in crossflow filtration was studied. The Shields Diagram for the critical shear stress versus shear Reynold Number was extended to include the existence of suction at the wall. The work, in conjunction with other authors' work. could form the basis of a complete, general model to describe the mechanism of this operation.
