Esterification of maleic anhydride with 2-ethylhexanol in case when no catalyst is used and in the presence of sulfuric acid as a catalyst
The kinetics of the esterification of maleic anhydride with 2-ethylhexanol has been investigated in an experimental isothermal semibatch reactor. The reaction appears to be of the first order with respect to monoester in the presence of sulphuric acid as a catalyst. If no catalyst is used, the reaction is of the second order with respect to monoester. The kinetic parameters have been determined.
