After conducting an independent study of various available technologies for reducing dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and colour prior to disinfection, consultant engineers, Eckler Engineering, recommended installing a continuous magnetic ion exchange pre-treatment system to bring a water utility in Florida, USA, into compliance with the Enviromental Protection Agency's DBP limits. In field trials, the MIEX(R) magentic ion exchange resin reduced raw water DOC by over 70%.
