Study on biogas production by anaerobic digestion of garden-waste
As petroleum and good quality coal reserves in India are depleting, hence alternative renewable source of energy is the demand of the time. At the same time management of huge quantities of garbage produced in India is also a serious problem. Therefore, anaerobic digestion of garden-waste was tried using some indigenous natural sources to find potential microbes for the gasification of garden-waste. For this study four natural sources i.e. cow-dung, paddy field soil, mine water and termites were used. From the study it is inferred that microbes present in paddy field soil when enriched on garden-waste gave best results out of four natural sources. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
