Blue colored polymeric particles containing oil-soluble dyes were prepared by dispersion polymerization in a methanol and water mixture. Oil blue N and fluorescent-labeled charge control additives were used as an oil-soluble dye and fluorescent marker, respectively. The effect of various polymerization parameters on the size and monodispersity were systematically investigated. The particle size was found to increase with decreasing water concentration, stabilizer concentration, dye content, and fluorescent-labeled charge control additives. The incorporation of dyes to the polymer particles was increase with increasing water and stabilizer concentrations. The effect of flurescent-labeled charge control additives strongly affected the electrophoretic mobility. It is consequently clarified that a small amounts of fluorescent-labeled charge control additives increased the electrophoretic mobility. However, a further addition decreases the electrophoretic mobility of polymer particles. {image1} |
