Commercially available organoclay (Closites C30B) was modified to have azide functionality through reaction of the C30B with methanesulfonyl chloride and sodium azide. And propargyl acrylate was intercalated into the interlayer of azide functionalized clay, followed by "click" reaction to make acryl functionalized clay. The modified clay was incorporated into the UV curable epoxy acrylate and the mixture was irradiated with UV light. Effect of modified clay type and content on the structure, thermomechanical properties and photocuring behavior of the nanocomposites were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmittance electrical microscopy (TEM), dynamic mechanical analyzer (DMA), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and photoDSC. |
