Direct methanol fuel cell(DMFC) is one of the most attractive power sources for portable and automibile power need, due to its inherently high efficiency and low emission. Polymeric Nafion is widely used as polymer electrolyte membrand because of its high proton conductivity, good thermal and chemical stabilities. However, it has high methanol permeability and high cost. In the present work, a composite membrane was fabricated by polymerizing di(ethylene glycol) dimethacrylate(DEGDMA) with styrenesulfonic acid(SSA) and dispersed s-silica to the polymer electrolyte membrane. We expect that the membrane has lower methanol permeability, higher proton conductivity and cheaper than Nafion. |
