Metal nanoshells(NSs) have attracted much interest due to their tunable optical properties. The conventional synthetic approaches for NSs are based on seed mediated growth or layer-by-layer deposition. However, these methods suffer from long reaction time, incomplete shell structure, and sophisticated condition. Previously, we synthesized Ag NSs in seedless single step under mild condition (1h, RT). As-prepared Ag NSs showed bumpy structure, which can impart not only surface plasmon resonance in the NIR spectral region but also a strong EM filed enhancement. Here, we present a further study on the synthesis of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) tags using Ag NSs. Being different from typical fabrication of SERS tags which requires additional attachment step of Raman label compound to metal nanostructure, we prepared AgNSs based SERS tags in one-pot procedure. As-prepared SERS tags exhibited Ag NS’s own bumpy structure and highly enhanced Raman signal at single particle level resulting from trapped label compound between Ag shell layers. Furthermore, we synthesized various kind of SERS tags and optimized the reaction condition. |
