In order to reduce the price of feedstock, microalgae, sewage sludge and spent ground coffee (SGC) were used to produce biodiesel by two-step process comprised of extraction and transesterification steps. The mixture of chloroform and methanol (2:1 ratio) was best for the lipid extraction from microalgae while the same mixture with different ration (1:2 ratio) was best for sewage sludge. n-hexane was best for lipid extraction from SGC. Acid catalyst showed better performance in transesterification using lipid from sewage sludge while alkali catalyst was better that from SGC. For microalgae, both catalysts showed similar transesterification results. |
