Size control of porphyrin H-aggregates for photovoltaic applications |

Size control of porphyrin H-aggregates is of interest due to its potential applications for the molecular electronic devices such as a single electron transistors. Size-controlled molecular wires can build a bridge over the macroscale gap between anode and cathode. Porphyrin molecule with 22 π-electrons enables strong interaction which can facilitate the formation of one-dimensional H-aggregates via face-to-face stacking. We report on the size control of porphyrin H-aggregates consisting of a number of alkyl-appended zinc porphyrins. Using UV-Vis spectroscopy and Dynamic Light Sc! attering(DLS), we have revealed that the size of porphyrin H-aggregates was decreased with the concentration of 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane(DABCO) that have strong interactions with zinc metal of porphyrin. |
