Poly(acrylic acid)-calcium phosphate (PAA-CaP) passivated TiO2 nanoparticles for multifunctional nanoparticle-based drug delivery system (NDDS) and photodynamic therapy (PDT) |
초록 |
One of the major challenges for cancer therapy using nanoparticle-based drug delivery system (NDDS) is selective toxicity for tumor cells. The strategy of designing and developing multifunctional NDDS has to be explored to overcome the limits of the treatments. Herein, we successfully prepared TiO2 nanoparticles passivated with poly(acrylic acid)-calcium phosphate (TiO2@PAA-CaP NPs) equipped with dual functional capabilities such as pH-responsive drug (DOX) release and photodynamic properties. TiO2@PAA-CaP NPs exhibited enhanced DOX loading capacity and pH-responsive release. In-vitro tests revealed that DOX-loaded TiO2@PAA-CaP NPs exhibited efficient cytotoxicity, likely followed by enhanced cellular uptake. Furthermore, DOX-loaded TiO2@PAA-CaP NPs under UV irradiation exhibited overall higher cytotoxicity likely due to synergistic effects of efficient NDDS and enhanced PDT characteristics. |
