Nano-scale Microstructural Evolution and Mechanical Properties of Quaternary AlCoCrNi High Entropy Alloy |

In this study, the microstructure and mechanical properties of AlCoCrNi high-entropy alloy. The alloy was prepared by arc melting method and analyzed. The microstructure of the alloy showed two phases such as dendrite and inter-dendritic areas. The ingots were examined as well after annealing at different maintenance times, and a compression test has been measured for as-cast and annealed samples at room temperature. Good combination of participant elements has been obtained in the separated regions of dendrite and inter-dendritic areas such as Al and Ni in dark region while Cr-rich in bright region. After annealing at different maintenance times, grain-growth was observed in the morphology of the inter-dendritic area and phase transformation happened in the dendrite area. The yield strength of alloys significantly increased after annealing between 1753 and 2925 MPa. The crystal structure, microstructure, mechanical properties of AlCoCrNi alloy has been discussed in detail by high entropy concept. |
