Laser-induced Fluorinated Polyimide Microsupercapacitor Electrodes with Large Specific Surface Area obtained from Microporous Structures |

Laser-induced graphene (LIG) is generally difficult to improve the electrochemical performance of microsupercapacitors (MSCs) due to the low specific surface area obtained from their mesoporous structure. In this study, fluorinated polyimides (fPI) with 3D nanostructure through a laser photothermal method are reported. Fluorine-containing gaseous products are released from fPI during laser-induced graphitization, resulting in a highly microporous structure. Therefore, the patterned LIG (LIG-fPI) shows a large specific surface area with its electrochemical performance. Specifically, the LIG-fPI electrode exhibits an exceptional areal capacitance of 110 mF cm–2 under an H2SO4 aqueous electrolyte, which is 27 times higher than that of a LIG based on commercial polyimides. Furthermore, thanks to an organic gel polymer electrolyte, LIG-fPI-MSCs with the mechanical stability and flexibility show high energy and power densities of 0.58 mW cm–2 and 0.01 mWh cm–2, respectively. |
