Thermoelectric materials are promising for applications in cooling and power generation. Bismuth telluride (Bi2Te3) and its alloys are the representative thermoelectric material that has the best thermoelectric figure of merit near room temperature. Especially, when these materials have one-dimensional (1D) nanostructure, improvement in thermoelectric figure of merit was reported. In this study, Bi2Te3 nanotubes with a high aspect-ratio and the good crystalline nature were synthesized through the two-step process using Te nanowires as templates. After Te nanowires were synthesized, alloying process to form Bi2Te3 was subsequently progressed. Based on this experimental results, we found that a sort of surfactant and reaction temperature play an important role in the formation of Bi2Te3 nanotubes. |
