제목 Hydrophobic surface modification of PVDF hollow fiber membrane for bacteria removal
초록 PVDF hollow fiber membranes are widely used to remove viruses in the biopharmaceutical manufacturing process, but modification is required due to poor performance of the membranes through fouling. In this study, the permeability of the membrane was improved and the fouling of the membrane was reduced through hydrophobic modification of the membrane surface. Potassium persulfate was used as an initiator of chemical modification to form radicals on the membrane surface and radicals are chemically reacted with 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl methacrylate to induce hydrophobic modification of the membrane. After that, the change in the morphology and characteristics of the hollow fiber membrane was measured, and the performance evaluation of the membrane was conducted. Additionally, the bacterial removal of the membrane was measured using a bacterium similar to the pore size of the hollow fiber membrane.
