The Porous material, Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework-8 (ZIF-8), has great advantages such as high surface area, deformable structure, and tunable pore size. These would lead to the use in various applications, which are gas storage and separation, catalyst, and electrochemical energy storage systems (rechargeable battery, supercapacitor). There are various methods of synthesizing ZIF-8. Solvothermal synthesis is the most well-known way and uses DMF and methanol which are solvents with harmful substances. On the other hand, hydrothermal synthesis is an eco-friendly method that requires a large amount of 2-methylimidazole (Hmim) in stoichiometric proportions and has poor crystallinity. In this study, harmless solvents (water and ammonia) and a relatively bit of Hmim are used. As well, ZIF-8 is prepared with diverse Zn salts (zinc nitrate, zinc chloride, zinc acetate, and zinc sulfate) and presented a better ZIF-8 synthesis method with outstanding properties. |
