Cellular metabolism is highly affected by the properties of the substrate where they are adhered. Layer-by-layer deposition (LbL) is highly practical method to create very thin coatings from various polymer mixtures. We studied cellular interactions onto the polymeric films comprised of biodegradable polyelectrolytes. As the films were prepared at different assembly conditions, their surface properties such as morphology, wetting, roughness revealed very distinctive. Cellular interactions onto these films were studied. We also created the micro-patterns of the adhesive peptide to control cellular movement. The multilayer coating was applied on micron-sized colloidal particles successfully, confirmed by fluorescence microscopy. This will be useful for biomedical application including drug-delivery system. |
