Synthesis and Characterization of a Flexible Rod Helical Polysilanes |

Polysilanes are unique for their main chain consisting of silicon-silicon single bonds, which, unlike carbon-carbon single bonds, are easily deformed with concomitant changes in electronic structure. Indeed, it has been found that their UV spectra, optical activities, etc. change sensitively with the side chain structure and solvent conditions, which in turn determine the backbone conformation. In particular, solid-state molecular conformations and electronic absorption of dialkyl-substituted polysilanes have been studied extensively. In this study, a flexible rod helical polysilanes were synthesized and optical characteristics of their thin films were investigated by fabricating the device. Details on the electrical properties of these polysilanes will be also discussed. |
