C70-based Water/Ethanol-Soluble Fullerene for Eco-Friendly Organic Solar Cells with Solvent Composition-Insensitive Photovoltaic Performances |

Eco-friendly organic solar cells (Eco-OSCs) based on aqueous-soluble conjugated materials have gained a great deal of research interest. Herein, newly developed aqueous-processable C70-based fullerene for eco-OSCs is suggested. PCEs up to 2.51 % were achieved based on the desirable blend morphology and enhanced light absorption property. At the optimized water/ethanol ratio (v/v = 15:85), the PCE of the PPDT2FBT-A:PC71BO15 eco-OSCs is 73% higher than that of the PC61BO15-based counterparts. The PC71BO15-based eco-OSCs show much greater tolerance to the solvent composition. PC71BO15-based eco-OSCs at a 30:70 water/ethanol ratio maintains 89% of the optimal performance. Different aggregation properties induced difference in water ratio-tolerant characteristics, which is investigated with several analyses. The PC71BO15-based eco-OSCs with water/alcohol processing in ambient conditions show excellent photovoltaic performances reproducibility due to the high water composition-tolerance. |
