Rapid Large Area Light Sintering of Printable Copper-Nanoinks |

Copper (Cu) nanoinks have received increasing attention as alternative to expensive noble metal combined with their high conductivity and cost efficiency. In this work, rapid (msec) light sintering of printable Cu nanoinks on polymer substrate were achieved by using exposure of pulsed white light without damage on the substrate. Light sintering effects of Cu nanoinks with capping polymers were systematically studied according to light pulse conditions and managed with other variables including pulse energy, pulse duration, peak intensity, and number of pulses. An excessive pulse energy that induces deleterious defects on the Cu film along with damage on a plastic substrate was dissipated into multiple sub-pulses while maintaining a total energy budget. |
