Hydrocarbon ionomer/porous PTFE substrate-based multilayered composite membranes |
초록 |
The mechanical strength and dimensional stability of proton exchange membranes (PEM) is significantly important for the electrochemical performance and lifetime of membrane electrolyte assemblies (MEAs). In this study, new multilayered composite membranes were developed using a porous polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) substrate and a hydrocarbon ionomer. The three layered (one PTFE layer, 10 μm-thick substrate) and five layered (two PTFE layers, 5 μm-thick substrate) membranes were fabricated and the surface of PTFE was treated with 1-propanol to improve the noncompatible characteristic between two components. For the properties of the multilayered composite membranes, the water uptake, dimensional change, tensile strength, and proton conductivity were evaluated under various temperature and humidity conditions. |
