In this study we investigated the effect of shear direction on interfacial morphology of at reactive polymer/polymer blends consisting of mono-carboxylated terminated polystyrene (PS-mCOOH) and poly(methyl methacrylate-ranglycidylmethacrylate) (PMMA-GMA). Previously, we reported the effect of shear force parallel to interface on morphological change at reactive interface. However, there is no systematical study on the effect of shear force perpendicular to interface. Thus we need well-defined experiment like our study on parallel shear. To make model interface perpendicular to shear direction, we prepared two plates made from each material. We put one upon another and welded two plates. Then we cut this sandwich-like plate into slice which has only one model interface. Then we applied shear force with perpendicular direction to interface. After the reaction, the interface was observed by atomic force microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. |
