To enhance the properties of D-A copolymers, third or even fourth monomers can be introduced to make terpolymers or quaterpolymers. But studies about those polymers have not been conducted much compared to D-A copolymers. In this study, we synthesized random terpolymers and quaterpolymers using several monomers. We controlled the ratio of each monomer unit to study the effect of donor and acceptor units in optical, electrochemical, photovoltaic, orientational and morphological properties of the terpolymers and quaterpolymers. The absorption spectrum and energy levels of terpolymers lied between those of D18-Cl and PBDB-T-Cl, which are mother D-A copolymers, depending on the ratio of each donor and acceptor unit. However, optimized organic solar cell devices showed higher power conversion efficiency than devices fabricated with their mother copolymer donors. |
