제목 Rapid Photonic Sintering Process for Deformable Electrodes in Various Electronic Applications
초록 Transparent conducting electrodes (TCEs) based on indium tin oxide (ITO) have been widely used for various optoelectronic devices such as displays, touch screens, organic light-emitting diodes and solar cells. However, recently, as those devices are strongly demanded to be flexible and low cost, various alternative materials such as carbon nanotubes, graphenes and metal (ex. Ag or Cu) nanowires (NWs) networks are being studied to replace ITO that is not only mechanically brittle, but also expensive. Among them, Cu NWs are considered as one of the most promising materials because they are inexpensive, flexible, and solution-processable.
In this study, we successfully synthesized Cu NWs using the hydrothermal reduction method. Copper chloride (CuCl2), glucose and hexadecylamine (HDA) were used as copper precursor, reducing agent and surfactant, respectively. To obtain dispersion stability of Cu NWs in polar solvent, the ligand exchange process with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) was performed to replace HDA-capped Cu NWs. Intense pulsed light (IPL) photonic sintering technique that is ultra-fast, scalable and feasible to heat-sensitive plastic substrate was employed to remove organic species present on the surface of the NWs and to form direct connections between the NWs without any atmospheric control. After IPL irradiation, the Cu NW-based flexible transparent conducting electrodes (FTCEs) exhibited high performance (22.05 Ω sq−1 at 85.60% transmittance), which is comparable to values reported in previous studies. To demonstrate practical use of Cu NW based FTCEs, Cu NW FTCEs were employed in the PhOLED and flexible transparent conductive heater. The highest efficiencies ever achieved in Cu NW FTCE based OLEDs was revealed. In addition, flexible transparent conductive heater showed stable and uniform heating characteristics with fast response time and outstanding mechanical flexibility. This result clearly confirmed that this IPL irradiation that can be feasible to R2R based printing (coating) process is very effective pathway for mass production of low-cost, high-performance Cu NW-based FTCEs.
