제목 Spatially confined colloidal Ni nanoparticles in the ordered mesoporous SBA-15 channels with an enhanced stability for dry reforming of methane
초록 Dry reforming of methane (DRM) is spotlighted among the catalytic reforming processes since it can convert two main greenhouse gases of CH4 and CO2 to useful syngas composed of equimolar H2 and CO for further utilization to produce methanol, ethanol or synthetic fuels. In general, the Ni-based reforming catalysts are favored industrially due to its lower cost, however the short lifetime of those catalysts originated from thermal instability of Ni nanoparticles and heavy coke formation compared to noble metal-based catalysts made it difficult to be commercialized in DRM reaction. In this study, through surface modification of the SBA-15, the colloidal Ni nanoparticles stabilized with organic capping agents were introduced to the ordered mesoporous SBA-15 channels to prohibit the thermal aggregations of the Ni nanoparticles as well as to reduce the coke formation via spatial confinement effect for the stable production of syngas by DRM reaction.
