제목 | Surface modified porous PTFE / poly(fluoro sulfonic acid) composite membrane for PEMFC applications |
초록 | Poly(fluoro sulfonic acid)(PFSA) based membranes have been widely used as the proton exchange membrane for fuel cell applications. But, PFSA membranes have drawbacks such as high cost, oxidative degradation reaction by hydroxyl radicals generated during the operation. The common methods to overcome these drawbacks are PTFE reinforce technique and cerium blending. but hydrophobicity of PTFE surface makes hard to impregnate conductive polymer and introduction of Ce ions can reduce the proton conductivity and be leached out during operation. In this study, PTFE films are modified with a hydrophilic treatment and radical scavenger was chemically bonded on the surface of treated PTFE film to prevent leaching. Then, PFSA polymer is impregnated in porous PTFE. The aim of treatment is improving compatibility between conductive polymer and porous PTFE. These treatment can improve strength and durability of membrane and prevent Ce ions from leaching out. FT-IR, water contact angle, SEM, EDS was analyzed to investigate surface modification. Proton conductivity of surface modified porous PTFE / PFSA composite membrane was measured. |
