This study describes on modeling and simulation of a multi-effect distillation process containing 8 effects with heat rejection sections.Weconsidered the factors that affect the product yield. There are some factors affect design and operation the MED plant include: plant size, top brine temperature (TBT), seawater temperature, condensation temperature, steam temperature, brine concentration, number of effects, temperature drop per effect and so on. Thus, the followingthree main control loops influence the production rates of the distillate: top brine temperature, seawater flow to the heat reject section, lasteffect brine level. In this study, both the steady-state and dynamic simulations have been carried out through the use of ASPEN PLUS and DYNAMICS software. It has been discussed in this study that applications of steady state modeling for parametric studies, such as improvement of design and operation variable for MED plant, as well as of dynamic modeling for investigation of dynamic behaviors and implementation of suitable control strategies. |
