Synthesis of Pseudo-stilbene-type Azopolymers and Molecular Weight Dependence of Holographic Inscription Efficiency for Fabricating Optical Fourier Surfaces |
초록 |
Holographic inscription on azomaterials is a promising method for fabricating Optical Fourier Surfaces (OFSs) as diffractive optics utilized in augmented reality applications. Pseudo-stilbene-type azobenzene molecule acts as a major driving force for the photo-induced mass migration behavior due to its molecular alignment and repetitive trans-cis-trans photoisomerization upon a certain wavelength of polarized light. Since the specific mechanism of this behavior is still under debate, optimization of azomaterials for OFSs should be conducted experimentally. Thus, in this study, typical pseudo-stilbene-type azopolymers (pDR1m) having various molecular weights were synthesized via RAFT polymerization and diffractive efficiencies of fabricated OFSs tested. For diverse applications of portable AR devices, soft molding methods have been used to replicate transparent and flexible OFSs to overcome chemical weakness and inherent optical loss of azomaterials. |
