Effect of silica nanoparticles on thermal and adhesion properties of acrylic pressure sensitive adhesives |

Acrylic copolymers were synthesized by solution polymerization of 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, and acrylic acid with AIBN as an initiator. Silica nanoparticles were modified by reacting with γ-glycidoxypropyl trimethoxysilane via sol-gel method. Adhesion performance of acrylic PSA was studied depending on the content of GPTMS-modified silica nanoparticles. The thermal characteristics of silica/PSA nanocomposites were examined by thermogravimetric analysis. The adhesion performance of silica/PSA nanocomposites was investigated using probe tack and peel strength. The adhesive strength of PSA decreased with increasing silica content but the thermal property was improved with increasing silica content. |
