제목 Production of high-value chemicals from bio-derived lactic acid
초록 The petrochemical industry is making a lot of effort to produce renewable chemical products in line with global environmental regulations. Among them, lactic acid produced through the biological fermentation of sugars is gaining much attention due to its high potential for commercialization. In addition, lactic acid is being investigated as a versatile platform chemical for the production of high-value chemical such as 2,3-pentanedione and acrylic acid. Therefore, it is crucial to develop selective heterogeneous catalysts for the production of targeted chemicals from lactic acid. Previous studies have found that the nature and distribution of acid-base sites in the catalysts control the overall product selectivity in the lactic acid conversion. In this work, we used various metal salts impregnated on traditional supports such as silica, zeolite with varied acid-base sites as model catalysts for the lactic acid conversion with the goal of understanding the catalytic descriptor.
