Preparation and characterization of tellurium nanowires |

The bismuth-telluride based alloys are known as the best thermoeletric materialscurrently available near room temperature. Tellurium nanowires are used to synthesize bismuth-telluride compound well known as a nanomaterial with the excellent thermoelectric properties at relatively low temperature(<300K). In the study, we have synthesised one-dimensional tellurium nanowires using trioctylphosphine oxide(TOPO) as an extractant. By varying experimental procedures and conditions, the particle sizes as well as dimensional morphologies of these materials could be adjusted. We also found the reaction temperature to be crucial to the synthesis of tellurium nanowires. The morphologies such as nanowires and nanotubes could be obtained when appropriate temperaturewas selected. |
