Proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) utilizing hydrogen as fuel has gained attention as a result of its energy efficiency that is higher than that of the combustion engine and low pollutant emission. Electrodes in PEMFC consist of gas diffusion layer (GDL) and catalyst layer (CL). GDL plays an important role related to gas diffusion and electron conduction. CL also plays an important role in performance. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are attractive materials for catalyst support due to their morphology and interesting properties such as nanometer size, high accessible surface area, corrosion resistance, good electrical conductivity and high stability. In this study, we prepared CNT cryogel electrodes with macroporous networking inner-structure for PEMFC, which have functions of both GDL and CL. Natural polymeric membranes were used to support macroprous CNT network. |
