Smart characteristics of electrospun nanofibers incorporating acid-sensitive polymeric dye |

Shape memory polyurethane mixtures with acid-sensitive styryl dye were electrospun and their shape memory effect and acid-sensitivity were investigated using electromechanical test and UV/VIS spectroscopy. Electrospun nanofibers as well as acid-sensitive dye showed a color change from reddish orange to yellow peak in the presence of acid. Morphology and some properties of nanowebs were analyzed by scanning electron microscopic measurement, mechanical property and thermal property. Multi-functional properties of polyurethane nanofiber web as potential smart materials were also demonstrated.
