Graphitic carbon nitride(g-CN) has been considered a promising photocatalyst. In spite of great chemical/thermal stability and unique electronic properties, pristine g-CN has poor photocatalytic activity under visible light because of limited absorption of visible light and fast charge recombination. To overcome these problems, we propose a simple method to improve g-CN. Ionothermal approach is performed using eutectic mixtures of LiI:KI. Detailed analyses by X-ray diffraction, FT-IR, 13C CPMAS NMR, XPS, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and photoluminescence spectroscopy indicate that nitrogen vacancy and cyano group are simultaneously introduced without critical structural collapse. These sites significant improve visible light absorption, charge separation and transfer, photocatalytic activity uder visible light. |
