Cellulose is earth-abundant biopolymer, which can be extracted from various plants and animals. Cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) are also eco-friendly candidate material to replace the synthetic plastics which cause pollution because of their excellent mechanical properties, an optical transparency, and the liquid crystal behavior with a high crystallinity. In this study, CNFs were coated on a commercial polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film for barrier properties, which is required for packaging applications. Also, CNFs were coated with a silica through Stober reaction for a better barrier performance. The Silica-CNF and PDMS were coated together on Polyethyleneimine (PEI)/Polyurethane (PU)/PET film using bar coating and dip coating method. |
