Smart nanocarriers, composed of polymeric self-assemblies, have emerged as promising nanovehicles for tumor-targeted delivery and controlled release of various active agents. However, since these polymeric nanoparticles are in the physically self-assembled state, they suffer from poor in vivo stability in the diluted condition after intravenous injection. Therefore, considerable amount of drugs may be released before reaching their target site, causing severe side effects. In this study, we prepared hyaluronic acid (HA)-based nanoparticles (HA-NPs) with improved stability through a facile crosslinking method. The physicochemical characteristics and stability of the HA-NPs were investigated in detail using various analytical techniques such as 1H-NMR, TEM, DLS and UV/VIS spectroscopy. |
