제목 Biodiesel production from waste cooking oil using ion-exchange catalyst
초록 As the production of biodiesel increases, the price of feedstock for biodiesel has hiked significantly.The FFA contents of the fresh soybean oil (FSO) and waste cooking soybean oil (WCSO)  from fried chicken restaurant were 0.7 and 2.9, respectively. Several types of polymer beads(Dowes polymers, Indion polymers, Amberlyst polymers) were evaluated as the solid acid catalyst and reaction conditions were optimized. Among them, Indion polymers showed much better performance. In addition, the difference of biodiesel conversion for  FSO and WCSO were marginal.  It was found that  catalyst (w%) and methanol (mL/g-WCSO) loadings were more significant than time and temperature in the experimental range. By statistical approach, the optimum reaction conditions were determined to 40 % catalyst loading, 7 mL-methanol/g-WCSO, 24 hr and 80 °C, and approximately 70% of biodiesel conversion was achieved.
