제목 One-step, Vapor Phase Synthesis of Crosslinked Ionic Polymer Thin Films for Oil/Water Separation Membrane
초록 Ionic polymers have been applied to various research field due to their unique properties. However, the ionic polymers could not have been synthesized in vapor phase because of the nonvolatile monomers. Here, we suggest a new synthetic method for crosslinked ionic polymers (CIPs) in vapor phase via initiated chemical vapor deposition (iCVD). 2-(Dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA) and 4-vinylbenzyl chloride (VBC) are introduced into the iCVD reactor in vapor phase. Copolymerization is occurred on the surface of the substrate, and simultaneously, Menshutkin reaction proceeds between tertiary amine in DMAEMA and benzylic chloride in VBC. Highly crosslinked p(DMAEMA-co-VBC) film is formed with ionic ammonium-chloride complex. The CIP thin film is applied to the surface modification of the oil/water separation membrane. With the hydrophilic and underwater-oleophobic CIP-coated membrane, excellent separation efficiency (99%) and outstanding flux (avg. 2.32×105 Lm-2h-1) are achieved.
