Effect of a Colorless High Dielectric Anisotropy Compound on the Electro-optical Properties of HPDLC |

Effects of a colorless high dielectric anisotropy compound on the electro-optical properties of holographic polymer dispersed liquid crystal(HPDLC) have been studied in terms of grating morphology, diffraction efficiency and electro-optical properties. Droplet size decreased with increasing the colorless high dielectric anisotropy compound due to the slow rate of polymerization and phase separation. The increased diffraction efficiency was caused by the decreased droplet coalescence which was due to the high viscosity of LC doped with the colorless high dielectric anisotropy compound. Also, the addition of colorless high dielectric anisotropy compound was likely to favour a lowering of the switching field as a result of LC orientation due to its high dielectric anisotropy. |
