Nanomaterials have received a lot of attention from different research areas. They show drastic changes in their catalytic, magnetic, and optic properties, depending on their size, morphology, and atomic arrangement. To control these properties, a number of methods have been tried using various stabilizer as well as kinetic conditions. In biological organisms, inorganic nanostructures are manipulated through bio-mineralization processes under physiological conditions. To mimic this system, we systematically designed peptides to control the shape of Pd nano particles (NPs). Peptides, as a template in growing Pd seeds, induced their growth to a specific facet. And they formed a uniform geometry composed of Pd NPs (4-5 nm). We prove that a designed peptide can control NP’s morphology, which is essential in mimicking bio-mineralization. |
