Epoxy resins are extremely versatile thermoset materials, such as coatings, adhesives, electrical insulating materials based on their excellent thermal resistance and processability. As the final network morphology of epoxy resin significantly affects the physical properties, proper selection of curing agents is essential. Thiol-based curing agent has advantages of being colorless after curing, and faster curing speed compared with existing other curing agents. However, the structure-property relationship of thiol-based curing agents has been barely researched. In this work, we investigated the hydrogen bonding effect and aliphatic chain blending effect to measure the thermal and mechanical properties of thiol-base curing agents. We synthesized five curing agents based on five different core structures and the aliphatic chain blender, to indicate the influence of the final properties. |
