Preparation of Functional Polymeric Film including Scarvengers for Silver Tarnish Inhibition |

Silver tarnish is a natural process and a chemical reaction in the presence of sulfur-containing substances in the air. In this study we have prepared a functional polymeric film including scarvengers which have a capable of inhibiting tarnish on silver surface. The scarvenger was compouded to make a master batch and the polyethylene film was finally extruded by blow molding machine. Their perfomance of inhbiting on the tarnish of silver was investigated by a simulation system with the condition such as acid gases, moisture. The rate of water and oxygen transmittance were also measured for the optimization of compounding and their correlation regading the tarnish of silver. As a result, the functional film including scarvengers was confirmed as having a performance to prevent silver from tarnishing effectively. |
